Music Employment contract
The basic types of employment are casual; seasonal; part-time; fixed term; full-time; freelance and self-employed. These can all be broken into a smaller set of 4 generic types of employment.
- An At Will Employee
A fast and simple type of employment contract, ideal for employees you know are to be hired for a shorter period of time and do not require the need for a detailed contract. This agreement states that the employee's employment and compensation can be terminated, with or without cause, and without advance notice, at any time, at the option of either the employee or employer.
Casual employment falls into this category
- Regular Employment Agreements for most full time employees and some temporary help (consultants, etc) and covers most of the types of employment listed below.
- A Longer Employment Agreement that is designed for management employees. This contract includes additional areas (perks) automobile allowance, reimbursement of expenses, vacation time and pay, a bonus clause etc.
- Non Compete ( included with the regular and management contract )Contracts like these are designed for the employer who wants more than the traditional non-compete clause that most employment contracts contain

Music Consultant's Agreement
This contract is intended for engaging an outside self-employed consultant. Under this contract the consultant supplies their services with a high degree of expertise and skill.
Standard components of a contract
There are four generic elements to a contract.
Consideration - an action, music product or service which will be provided in return for something of value (money).
Certainty - the contract must be certain and clearly state what is expected of parties.
Legal Purpose – parties should be intending to enter into a legally binding agreement for a legal purpose.
Terms - the contract must offer and be accepted on the specified terms.
